Just being in the presence of Ali is like meditation. I am grateful for his excellent teaching." - Julie Wheeler (Pomona, CA) Through Dr. Ali’s MAP 1 class and his drop-in sessions, I have become more patient with myself and others, and much less reactive. I have used the tools learned from him to deal with anxiety and pain, and have longer daily periods of feeling at peace. I value that he teaches by focusing on experiential practice while weaving in valuable information. He is generous of spirit and time, and seems very committed to his and his students’ mindfulness development. I am deeply grateful for his teachings and guidance.” - H.C. (Long Beach, CA) |
Weekly Sangha Drop-ins (non-guided silent sits):
Sangha is a Sanskrit word that can loosely be understood as practitioners who gather together in a supportive and gentle community with intentions of cultivating insight, wisdom, and connection – to self, others, and to the “more than human world.” Sanghas can hold both secular and spiritual inflections and can be imagined and experienced as spaces of refuge and belonging. I like to think of my Sanghas as a home-coming - a space of intentional embodiment and emplacement. An oasis in the midst of what often feels like a very chaotic and vertiginous world. Experienced and beginner practitioners are welcome. If you have no prior meditation experience, it is suggested that you attend several of my free guided drop-ins to help support your Sangha practice.

SATURDAY & WEDNESDAY – Weekly Sangha Drop-ins
Both of these silent sits are scheduled for 30 minutes. A gentle ring of a bell will mark the end of the meditation period. Practitioners may use a portion of their sit for some private journaling/reflective writing. A 15-minute community/open sharing and Q/A time immediately follows the end of the formal silent sits.
